Blues 1-4-5

BLUES “1-4-5” is a local San Diego band playing Chicago Blues from the 1950’s

and early 60’s era.  Song artists covered in their music include Freddie King,

Magic Sam, Elmore James, Little Walter and many more.  The “1-4-5” in the bands

name is the progression for most blues music.

The band’s leader and inspiration is Augie Scalzitti.  Augie grew up in Chicago

and at the age of 13 was taking the bus to Maxwell Street and nearby

guitar shops and recording studios.  Augie played a couple of songs with

Willie Dixon, met Little Walter on the street and carried Bo Diddley’s guitar

into a gig. Most of the band members work for Padre Dam Municipal Water District

of which Augie is a current Board member.
